Welcome to Arizona Wooden Toys, offering heirloom quality, handcrafted Children's Wooden Toys, built to be practical, fun and to provide many years of safe play. All of my Arizona Wooden Toys are HandMade, have totally Non-Toxic finishes and are crafted and made, by me, right here in my Arizona, USA, workshop. Wooden toys will last much longer then plastic toys and if a wooden toy does break, it generally does not create sharp edges and you can usually fix it. No batteries Required! Wooden toys help your child to appreciate the natural world, the shades and grains of wood, the colors, and the varying weight of wooden toys in a variety of sizes and densities. For this reason, I do not add colored, or other un-natural finishes to my wood toys.  A well built, quality toy shows a respect for your child and in turn teaches the child  to  respect his belongings. Beauty and durability are important lessons for early developing ideas.

Buy your children's, non toxic, handmade wooden toys hereUnable to put into writing his views on the recent congressional passage of HR4040, one of my customers has submitted the attached photo as a visual display of his opinion of this bill. This is a bill prompted by all of the recent issues over "lead poisoning" & toxic contaminations of so many children's toys (imported children's toys.)  It was hastily thrown together & lacked several "common sense" provisions, resulting in small, American toy makers being required to have every product design they make, tested for specifically lead, possibly resulting in additional costs running into thousands of dollars. I don't have the space here to go into my thoughts on this, but I will say that a big reason I've started making wooden toys is because of the lack of controls over foreign, imported toys. I know what does or does not go into every single wooden toy I make. At present, the good news is that the Consumer Product Safety Commission  (a governing body responsible for enforcing federal product safety provisions) has just recently granted exemptions for certain  products, such as natural untreated wood, from these testing requirements. This, however, is a temporary concession and if they don't make some serious adjustments to this bill, by this time next year, I for one, will be out of the toy making business.   • Update on new Child Safety Law (11/9/09):

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 is scheduled to go into effect next February, and may impact some woodturners ability to make/sell children's toys.
